  • Aizu-Hongō Ware, Said to Be the Oldest Kiln Site in the Tōhoku Region

    In 1645, Masayuki Hoshina, the lord of the Aizu domain, invited Genzaemon Mizuno, a potter from Seto in Mino Province, who discovered raw soil in Hongō Village and started manufacturing pottery in earnest. This is the origin of Aizu Hongo ware.

  • Aizumisato Town Hongō Information Center

    About a 20-minute walk from Aizu-Hongo Station. This information center provides tourist information for Aizu-Misato Town and the surrounding area, and sells local products from Aizu-Misato Town, such as rice and processed Otane-ninjin (ginseng). There is also a free rest area. The "Aizu-Hongo Ware Material Exhibition Room" is located on the second floor and can be visited free of charge.
    Free bicycle rental service is also available, which is convenient for touring the Aizu-Hongo area. Why not take a town map and visit the 33 Kannon pilgrimage sites, restaurants, and tourist spots in Aizu?

    You can create your own original Hongo ware with your favorite texture at each pottery, such as hand-kneading, potter's wheel, and painting experiences.
