  Takizawa River Potholes

  One of the largest groups of river potholes in the Tohoku region, carved over long periods of time by the fast-flowing waters of the Takizawa River, a tributary of the Tadami River. It is considered extremely rare because the entire formation process—from the initial formation to the fully developed potholes—can be observed in a single location.

  Ōshio Natural Carbonated Spring

  A rare site in Japan where natural carbonated water springs up from the ground. Lightly carbonated and easy to drink, it attracts many visitors. For a limited time, the parking area also hosts stalls where local women sell fresh vegetables, rice, honey, and other local products.

  Ōshio Onsen Public Bath

  A bluish, cloudy hot spring with waters rich in carbon dioxide and sodium, classified as a chloride–bicarbonate spring. It is well known as a “beauty bath,” said to leave the skin smooth and refreshed.
