  Mukaihaguroyama Castle Ruins

  Mount Habakuro Castle Ruins are one of Japan's largest mountain castles, built by Morimichi Ashina, a warlord of Aizu during the Sengoku period. Although the castle has been dismantled, the distinctive features that utilized the natural terrain remain. When exploring the site, you can enjoy panoramic views of Mount Bandai and the Aizu Basin. A certificate of castle visit is also available as a memento.

  Aizumisato Town Hongō Information Center

  About a 20-minute walk from Aizu-Hongo Station. This information center provides tourist information for Aizu-Misato Town and the surrounding area, and sells local products from Aizu-Misato Town, such as rice and processed Otane-ninjin (ginseng). There is also a free rest area. The "Aizu-Hongo Ware Material Exhibition Room" is located on the second floor and can be visited free of charge.
  Free bicycle rental service is also available, which is convenient for touring the Aizu-Hongo area. Why not take a town map and visit the 33 Kannon pilgrimage sites, restaurants, and tourist spots in Aizu?

  Aizu Hongo Ware

  In 1645, Masayuki Hoshina, the lord of the Aizu domain, invited Genzaemon Mizuno, a potter from Seto in Mino Province, who discovered raw soil in Hongō Village and started manufacturing pottery in earnest. This is the origin of Aizu Hongo ware.
