To celebrate the major success of the film "18×2," currently in theaters nationwide, Tadami Town in Minamiaizu, Fukushima, will hold the "18×2" Essay Contest, capturing a journey across 18 years.
To that person from that time. To your future self, or to someone special. Why not write a letter? Tadami Town will keep your heartfelt messages safe and secure.
■ Themes
1. A Letter to the Past: "To myself at 18, or to that person from when I was 18." 2. A Letter to the Future: "To myself 18 years from now, or to that person 18 years from now."
*Regarding Theme 1, selected entries will be published on our website and other platforms following the judging process.
*Regarding Theme 2, entries will be sealed after the judging process. They are scheduled to be reopened and their contents announced 18 years from now, in May 2042.
■ Application Rules
・Entries must be submitted in the form of a "letter."
・Entries must be original and previously unpublished works (maximum 2,000 characters).
・Each individual may submit only one entry per theme.
• Plagiarism, double submission, and the submission of similar works are strictly prohibited.
• The organizer assumes no responsibility for any copyright infringement disputes, such as plagiarism, related to submitted works.
• Submissions created using ChatGPT or any other AI-generated text are not eligible for entry.
• If a violation is confirmed, the award may be revoked even after the winner has been announced.
• Submitted works will not be returned.
• The copyright of the winning works shall belong to the organizer.
• Please note that winning works may be displayed within Tadami Town or published in newspapers, magazines, television, radio, books, and on websites.
• For the announcement of winning works, it is possible to use a pen name or initials. We will confirm your preference with you after the awards are decided.
• Please note that applicants are responsible for the cost of postage for their submissions.
• Judging will be conducted in Tadami Town by a panel of judges selected by the town.
• Personal information will be stored and managed strictly with utmost care for its protection. However, we cannot guarantee the prevention of information leakage, loss, or unauthorized modification by third parties. Please note that the organizer assumes no responsibility for any damages incurred by the applicant or a third party resulting from such leakage, loss, or modification.
■ How to Apply
All entries must be submitted by mail. Please cover the cost of postage yourself.
・Format: Please send your entry via postcard, picture postcard, or sealed letter. If using Word (A4 size, horizontal orientation), please send it in a sealed envelope. Use a 10.5pt font size.
・Handwritten Entries: Please use a pencil (B or 2B), ballpoint pen, or fountain pen, and ensure the writing is dark and clear.
・Required Information: Please be sure to include your name, address, contact phone number, and email address. Entries with missing information will be excluded from the judging process.

Grand Prize: 36kg (18kg x 2) of newly harvested rice from Tadami Shiozawa (the location of Ami's house) & an exclusive postcard illustrated by Rumi Yoshida.
Outstanding Performance Award: 18kg of newly harvested rice from Tadami Shiozawa (the location of Ami's house) & an exclusive postcard illustrated by Rumi Yoshida.
Honorable Mention: An exclusive postcard illustrated by Rumi Yoshida.
*Rumi Yoshida is the picture book author responsible for the paintings created by Ami in the film.
