On November 10, 1921, the “Koide–Yanaizu Railway Promotion Association” was established, and Bunpei Meguro, head of the prominent Meguro merchant family of Echigo Uonuma, was appointed as its first chairman. After overcoming numerous challenges, the long-awaited railway was completed between Koide and Ōshirakawa on November 1, 1942, and a steam locomotive ran through the Echigo Hirose region for the first time.
Marking the 80th anniversary of this historic milestone, a special exhibition will be held introducing the story of the Tadami Line, the railway connecting Aizu and Echigo, and the role played by the Meguro family.
As a special program, a “Kamishibai Performance & Exhibition Talk: The Story of the Tadami Line Restoration” will also be held.
It will take place three times during the exhibition period, so we warmly invite you to attend.
